Shri Mahishamardini Devi

Shri Mahishamardini Devi

Sri Mahishamardini Devi of Ampar, installed during the reign of the kings around 800 years ago, is the main attraction of this village. The special feature of the idol here is that Mahishamardini has only two hands. Usually, the idols of Mahishamardini and Durgaparameshwari have multiple hands and sometimes at least 4 hands. It is difficult to find a Mahishamardini idol with two hands like this anywhere else. The 400-year-old idol of Sri Devi, which has been worshiped since ancient times, was replaced in 2010. Under the leadership of Mr. Raviraj Bhat, who is the current Managing Trustee, the existing Mahishamardini idol was installed with Ashtabandha Maha Pratisthe and Brahmakalashotsavam. Since then, Sri Devi, who is regularly worshiped with traditional rituals, is providing protection like a mother to the devotees who pray with devotion.

Navratri festival is held every year in this temple with all its grandeur. The goddess is specially decorated for the nine days of Navratri and is the centre of attraction for devotees from different parts. Chandika Homa is organized every year on Navratri, especially on Panchami. On 26th January of every year, the Vardhanthi utsava of Sri devi is held like a festival with all grandeur with the cooperation of several vipras. In the month of Shravan, various sevas like Sone Aarti are symbolic of the devotion of the devotees.
